An innovative project which has already had several performances in Romania, all of them being sold out, is presented in a new form which alternates a conference-like presentation with readings of poems by Mihai Eminescu, Tudor Arghezi and George Coşbuc, translated into Hungarian by Dsida Jenő, Kacsó Sándor, Székely János, Képes Géza, Berde Mária, Kiss Jenő, P. Tóth Irén and Szemlér Ferenc. Actor Demeter András will read and perform live, this time in Hungarian language.

The recital by Demeter András will be accompanied by online video interventions of poetry readings by well-known Romanian actors such as Victor Rebengiuc, Mariana Mihuţ, Mihaela Rădescu, Ion Caramitru, as well as by interventions by the representatives of the project: Ovidiu Miculescu, the project initiator, and Oltea Şerban-Pârâu, art advisor. They will speak to the audience about the importance of poetry in a century of speed, about this endeavor to support a cultural sector which is marginalized nowadays.

A Hand for the Poet is a refuge-project. An escape. A meeting on the strip between what is and what might be or what should be the life of human beings. A polychromy of the inner forces that anyone living on this earth would need. For a performing artist, its reiteration in a hybrid formula, on the occasion of the Hungarian Poetry Day, both in Budapest, and in this particularly important academic center Szeged, may only be a high-level meeting!  I am happy to be that artist on 11 April!” (Demeter András)

The event shall take place on Tuesday, 11 April, from 12:00 hours, at “Somogyi Károly” Library in Szeged and later on, from 19:00 hours, at Három Holló Literary Café in Budapest.

A hand for the Poet - Vastaps a KÖLTŐNEK is a specific development and adaptation for the Hungarian language of the project Aplauze pentru poet / A Hand for the Poet, a unique initiative to promote classic and modern Romanian poetry for both the Romanian and international audience, which may be accessed online at the address aplauzepentrupoet.thecultureclub.ro or ahandforthepoet.thecultureclub.ro.
